With so many weddings happening this year, I decided that it was time to kick my butt into gear and get healthy – please enter Steph Prem.
Steph is an absolute inspiration to us all. An talented athlete and former Olympic snowboarder, Steph represented Australia at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver before suffering a career-ending injury with a misplaced jump that saw her fracture vertebrae, tear her her pelvis and hamstring and and compress the discs in her back – things were not looking good.
With a serious injury that threatened to derail not only her career but her life, Steph reacted in the only way she knew how – to fight. She knew how important physcial and menthal health was and this played a huge part in her rehabilitation and recovery, and soon word got out about Steph’s ability, determination and individual approach to health and fitness and soon she was helping to train others – thus, Premium Performance was born!
Originally offering classes in a small studio on Chapel St, Premium Performance has grown exponentially from a one woman show to a full team of fitness instructors offering the best in fitness in a light-filled studio in one of Melbourne’s bustling hotspots.
Bubbly, bright and absolutely gorgeous, Steph is a breath of fresh air! Nestled behind The Olsen hotel in South Yarra, Studio PP is a place for everyone no matter what age, shape, gender or ability. Steph makes you feel so welcome that you can’t wait to book a class the following week. With inspirational quotes written on the floor and walls and a chic neutral colour palette – it’s so Melbourne, I love it – the studio has an amazing vibe and clientele. It is probably the most inviting fitness studio I have ever been to, To her credit though, Steph is such a genuine person who has utter belief in her clients and takes the time to get to know each person who steps through the door – it’s a quality that you can’t learn but Steph’s got it in spades – you can’t help but want to be her new bestie!
A combination of barre, functional and personal training, yoga and reformer pilates (my fave!), Steph’s classes leave you feeling taller, re-engerised, positive and ready to take on anything. PP also offers bootcamps, HIIT, stretch and recovery classes and even classes for mums and bubs – I’m not joking when I say there is something for everyone.
